LANSING, MI – A Michigan law firm has filed a lawsuit against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on behalf of defendants from mid-Michigan for failing to call a special election to fill the vacant Michigan Senate seat representing Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties.

The lawsuit, filed in the Michigan Court of Claims by Outside Legal Counsel PLC , seeks to compel the governor to issue a writ of election to fill the vacancy in the 35th Michigan Senate District.
