NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Baristas at a Middle Tennessee Starbucks are seeking to join 12,000 fellow baristas at more than 600 Starbucks locations across the U.S. in unionizing.
A group of baristas at the Bellevue location on Highway 100 filed for union selection with the National Labor Relations Board on Wednesday. The group said joining the growing union of Starbucks baristas gives them the power to make their voices heard and fix what is broken.
“We filed to unionize because our store has been neglected for too long - wage theft, unsafe conditions, broken equipment, and managers who cycle in and out without real support. We’ve raised these issues repeatedly and nothing has changed,” said Lindy Drolsum, a shift supervisor of six years.
