(Reuters) -An area of low pressure located just west of the Cape Verde islands has a 90% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Monday.

Heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected to continue across portions of the islands off West Africa and authorities there should monitor the progress of this weather system, the NHC said in its latest advisory.
