A man sleeping inside a car that had been reported stolen awoke to ram it into police vehicles on Monday morning, officials said.

According to police, at about 3:27 a.m. on Monday, officers found a Nissan Maxima parked in a lot along the 6200 block of Harley Street in Southwest Philadelphia, that had a man inside asleep in the passenger seat.

Officials said the vehicle had been reported stolen in May from just a few blocks away -- the 2600 block of Holbrook Street.

Upon waking up, officials said, the 26-year-old man inside the vehicle moved into the driver's seat and started the car.
