HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - Fifty attorneys general sent a warning to dozens of telecom companies as part of a crackdown on robocalls.
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong said on Monday that the effort by the Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force was called “Operation Robocall Roundup.”
Tong said letters were sent to 37 voice providers. They ordered them to stop the illegal robocalls that have been routed their the providers’ networks.
“Robocalls aren’t just annoying, they are a primary pathway for scammers to steal information and inflict serious financial harm,” Tong said in a statement. “We are cracking down on the country’s worst scam enablers with the full weight of 50 attorneys general across the nation.
