CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Talk about a doggone ruff day!
Chaffee County Search and Rescue North (CCSAR-N) carried out an hours-long rescue operation last week to bring dogs down from Mount Princeton.
A good Samaritan alerted CCSAR-N Friday afternoon that multiple dogs were struggling high on the 14er.
“While pet rescues are not normal protocol for Search and Rescue teams, our team definitely has some pet lovers who were ready to jump into action!” CCSAR-N said. “At 3:45 p.m., we received notice of assistance needed, and we were able to send a couple teams to assist in carrying down the pups.”
Carrying canine carry harnesses alongside their usual gear, the team trekked up the mountain to rescue the dogs.
“All teams and doggos were out of the field seven hours later,” CCSAR-N said.
