CHARLESTON — The National Weather Service’s local office has placed the city under a flash flood warning until 12:30 p.m.
The NWS warns that heavy rainfall, which is coinciding with the morning high tide, is creating dangerous and “life-threatening” conditions, and is advising residents not to attempt travel unless fleeing an area that is currently flooding or under an evacuation order.
One to two inches of rain already have fallen across the area, and the NWS anticipates another one to two inches to fall in the coming hours. The office predicts that the rain will come in intermittent bands throughout the day.
Impacted areas include North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, downtown Charleston, Daniel Island, West Ashley, the Charleston Naval Complex, Columbus Street Terminal, Marion Square,
