THOMASTON, Ga. — We spent the summer talking about the changes and growth of teams ahead of the fall season, but the Georgia High School Association made some adjustments to their transfer bylaws. Executive Director Tim Scott explained what changes are being made and why.
"Sometimes you'll look at an athlete and they've been in seven different schools in the three years,"
That's the main reason for two changes to the GHSA transfer rules this school year. Originally, the entire policy was mainly based off one question.
"Did you leave one home and move into another home," Scott said.
When it came to verifying the move, Scott said they would ask families to provide proof of residency.
