Storm Team 10 and the National Hurricane Center are tracking Tropical Storm Erin which has formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Current wind speeds are 45 mph as it moves west at 20 mph.

The latest forecast cone from the NHC shows Erin moving west-northwest and should continue that track for the next several days as it organizes and strengthens. Erin will become the first hurricane of the season but it is also expected to reach Major Hurricane strength by this weekend as a Category 3 Hurricane.

Tropical models largely agree that Erin will move north of the Caribbean Sea and could make a hard northerly turn before the Bahamas this weekend. The forecast track is highly uncertain at this time but the threat for this to reach the Gulf looks very low.
