LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ford announced Monday it is investing $5 billion across the Louisville Assembly Plant and the BlueOval Battery Park Michigan to develop and produce a new electric pickup truck.
The company announced the creation of a new platform and assembly process that will not only create a new family of affordable electric vehicles, but will also simplify vehicle assembly—focusing on safety, speed and quality. The Ford Universal EV Platform and the Ford Universal EV Production System were unveiled Monday.
The midsize, four-door electric pickup will launch in 2027.
