AMITE, La. (WGNO) — An investigation has been launched in Tangipahoa Parish after a body was discovered in Amite on Sunday, Aug. 10.

According to TPSO deputies, around 3:15 a.m. they received a call reporting a crash on Bennett Road. They arrived to find a vehicle in a ditch with a man inside who appeared to have been shot to death.

TPSO detectives are asking for the public's help in the case. Anyone with information on the incident can call the Criminal Investigation Division at 985-902-2088.

The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office will release the man's identity after an autopsy is done.
