A person was found deceased between two buildings in Brookhaven on Monday.

Police Chief Dustin Bairfield said a business owner called 911 Monday morning when he found what appeared to be a man in a narrow alleyway between two buildings.

Officers have determined that it is a deceased male, Bairfield said, but he may have been there for a week or more. The State Medical Examiner’s Office will do an autopsy to determine the identity of the man and whether there was foul play involved.

Bairfield said it’s possible that the deceased is a homeless person who was sleeping in the alley.

This is an ongoing investigation.
