A man went missing in a wooded area in Rankin County.

According to Investigator Tyler Burnell, on Sunday, August 10, at approximately 10:19 p.m., the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call regarding a missing person in the area of Woodrow Martin Rd near the Rankin County and Smith County line.

After arriving on scene, deputies learned that Tracy Stephen Chalk had gone walking in the woods around his home.

When he didn’t return, family members set out on ATVs to try to find him, but were unsuccessful.

Over the next several hours multiple Search and Rescue (SAR) assets were deployed to the area, which included personnel, drones, and K9’s from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Police Department, Smith County Sheriff’s Department, Rankin County Emergency Opera
