EUGENE — Oregon opens the 2025 season in the top 10 of the preseason AP poll for a second straight year.

The Ducks are No. 7 with a total of 1,236 points and one first-place vote in the AP preseason top 25 poll released Monday.

It’s the fifth time during the College Football Playoff era, since 2014, that Oregon has opened in the top 10. It was No. 3 in last year’s preseason poll.

Oregon has back-to-back games against teams ranked in the preseason poll; at No. 2 Penn State (Sept. 27) and No. 20 Indiana (Oct. 11). No. 3 Ohio State, No. 12 Illinois and No. 14 Michigan are also ranked from the Big Ten, though not on Oregon’s regular season schedule. USC, Nebraska and Iowa also received votes from the conference.
