The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three people Sunday and continues to search for a fourth after a fishing boat sank along Oregon’s central coast.
Officers responded Sunday afternoon to a capsized fishing vessel near the Yaquina Bay jetty in Newport, the Coast Guard posted on X . Three were recovered from the vessel, Das Bug, according to the post.
The 40-foot boat sank around 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, a Coast Guard spokesperson told The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Two crew members and captain Perry Bordeaux were taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital for treatment of hypothermia, the Lincoln Chronicle reported on Sunday . The search for the fourth crew member, which included a Coast Guard helicopter, was unsuccessful as of late Sunday night.
