Hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, is in full swing in the Atlantic. While there haven’t been any hurricanes yet, this season has already seen four tropical storms – Andrea, Barry, Chantal, and Dexter. Unfortunately, that number has already increased.
August is known for producing some of the season’s strongest and most unpredictable storms. The U.S. East Coast is now on heightened alert as meteorologists track new activity in the Atlantic. In addition to two areas of low pressure, meteorologists are tracking the newly formed Tropical Storm Erin, which is likely to become the first Atlantic hurricane of the season.
