FHSAA Kickoff Classic games are set to launch the 2025 high school football season in Florida this week. Officially these are exhibition contests, designed to get players acclimated to game-day situations.

But for some, the Classic week is a chance to play marquee matchups in games that can impact national rankings.

Take Thursday’s Kickoff Classic opener at The First Academy. The Royals will be hoping to put their name in the headlines when they host powerhouse IMG Academy of Bradenton, which is ranked No. 4 nationally by USA Today . IMG is ranked No. 6 by Maxpreps , while TFA is No. 62.

So don’t think this IMG-TFA matchup is just another preseason scrimmage. The Royals are hoping to make a statement with their loaded roster, which has seven players committed to Power Four colleges
