AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is urging the public to be aware of their surroundings after recent vehicle break-ins around Zilker Park and Mount Bonnell.

July 16 break-ins

Police said two suspects were arrested on July 16 around at 3:20 p.m. in connection to breaking into vehicles at Zilker Park. The suspects allegedly broke into several vehicles at the park and fled the scene in a silver Hyundai vehicle.

Police said they were able to locate the suspect's vehicle and they initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, they found stolen property that belonged to one of the victims.

The suspects were arrested for burglary of a vehicle.

Aug. 7 break-ins

Another incident happened on Aug. 7 at Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve, as well as at Covert Park and Mount Bonnell.
