AUSTIN, Texas — Travis County officials deployed a cadaver dog to the Sandy Creek neighborhood following reports of a decomposition smell in the area.
A Travis County spokesperson said on Sunday, officials were informed by a community member that there was a decomposition smell coming from the Sandy Creek Bridge area. Travis County Andy Brown directed a search dog and handler to the area to investigate Sunday afternoon.
The dog and handler returned Monday at 7 a.m., and an excavator was also brought in to eliminate debris.
After several hours of searching, the county spokesperson said no remains – human or animal – were found. There was still an odor, but the dog never alerted it.
As of Monday morning, the search has ended.
