BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) - Authorities are investigating after a man was declared dead after being in custody with the Bellevue Police Department.

A BPD release says officers were responding to an incident near the intersection of South 28th Street and Tulip Lane just before 1 p.m. on August 10.

Officers were responding to a call concerning an “unclothed male” in the caller’s swimming pool, and the male in question unsuccessfully trying to enter the caller’s home.

The man later left the home, and was found by officers near 27th and Fairview streets. The man attempted to flee on foot, but was caught by police.

Once caught, the man tried to resist arrest and had to be subdued before being handcuffed.

After being handcuffed, the man became unresponsive and stopped breathing, according to BP
