(NewsNation) — IKEA has recalled more than 54,000 garlic presses due to potential laceration and ingestion risks.

The recall was announced July 31 and affects approximately 43,830 IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL items in the U.S., along with an additional 10,700 units in Canada, which were sold for $8 each between March 2024 and May of this year.

The recall was issued because small metal pieces from the press can come apart, "posing a laceration or ingestion risk to consumers," according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

There have been 10 incidents involving the garlic press reported globally, three of which were related to reports of lacerations and finger splints. No incidents have been reported in the U.S.
