An attorney is under investigation and a prisoner is being disciplined after the Department of Corrections accused them of smuggling drugs into Central Michigan Correctional Facility in St. Louis on Aug. 4.
MDOC officials said on Aug. 8 that the attorney was visiting the prisoner and was seen passing a package to their client, who is being held at the facility.
After the visit, staff searched the prisoner and found 211 strips of paper film suspected to contain Suboxone, 68 grams of a brown-waxy substance and 45 grams of white powder.
Police then searched of the attorney's car and found additional suspected Suboxone strips and white powder, MDOC said in the release.
