The Perseid meteor shower is often one of the most anticipated celestial marvels each year. The showers can produce 50 to 100 meteors per hour during peak activity and are known for occasional fireballs.
The Perseids will peak early Wednesday, though they will be overshadowed by two other events happening in the sky.
