OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - The Oshkosh Area Humane Society (OAHS) is asking the public to consider fostering or adopting dogs who have been waiting far too long for a home.

According to a press release from OAHS, ten dogs have been with the shelter between three months and nearly three years, with some struggling due to stress despite daily enrichment from staff and volunteers.

A few dogs have special needs, such as being the only pet, while others have simply been overlooked. OAHS officials say August is typically one of the slowest months for adoptions, making it an especially difficult time for these long-term residents.

OAHS has posted photos, bios and videos of each dog on its website, along with downloadable posters the public can share in the communities.
