Belfast officials were able to open the City Park swimming pool late last week after extensive repairs had kept it closed for most of the summer.

The city announced on Thursday that it would be reopening the pool the next day, Aug. 8, and that it would remain open until Sept. 14. Earlier last week, city officials had said they were still unsure when or whether the pool would reopen this year.

Until late August, it will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will then run on a more limited schedule through the seasonal closing in mid-September.

Some Belfast residents said late last week that they had grown tired of the closure, which had deprived them of a place to cool down during the hottest days of summer.
