COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A property dispute in Cottageville led to a shooting between a victim and his tenant, officials said.

Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Van Dyke Road last week for a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, who suffered a serious injury to his hip, told responding deputies the shooter was his tenant. Witnesses said the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two, regarding a property dispute.

“Initial information suggested the suspect had barricaded himself inside the residence; however, deputies later found him walking along Rhode Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident,” the sheriff’s office said.
