NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — New York State test scores were up across the board for New York City public school students in the 2024-2025 school year, Mayor Eric Adams announced.

State test data for both the English Language Arts and math increased this past school year in New York City in grades 3 through 8, according to the mayor.

In ELA, students posted an average score of 56.3 percent, which is a 7.2 percent increase from the '23-'24 school year. In math, scores increased by 3.5 points, from 53.4 percent to 56.9 percent.

“These academic gains in English Language Arts and math are a testament to what’s possible when we invest in our young people and believe in their potential, and we are proud of our students, teachers, and the entire school community,” Mayor Adams said.
