BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo woman was sentenced Monday to 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison and had her driver’s license revoked after a jury found her guilty of killing a bicyclist and injuring two others.

A jury found Carmen Martin, 36, guilty of Criminally Negligent Homicide and two counts of Assault in the Third Degree in March. Jurors reached their verdict after six hours of deliberation following a seven-day trial.

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane says that on Friday, June 17, 2022, shortly before 9 p.m., Martin was driving westbound on South Park Avenue when she hit a 32-year-old female bicyclist from behind near the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino.
