DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Department of Education has received almost $500,000 in federal AmeriCorps funding.

According to the Iowa Department of Education, the grant will fund the state’s ‘Course to College’ program, which provides postsecondary education coaching to high school and college students.

The ‘Course to College’ program allows high school seniors, college students, and recent college graduates to serve as student leaders and postsecondary education coaches through AmeriCorps.

Over 80 AmeriCorps members will serve in the program. The grant also supports high school counselors who work as summer transition associates.
