Resident Alien creator Chris Sheridan addresses Mike and Liv's future after the ending of the show laid out their next adventure. Resident Alien season 4 ended with Mike and Liv being offered jobs by the government to investigate aliens. They'll continue working as police in Patience while being part of the secretive organization formerly led by General McCallister.

In an interview with ScreenRant for the Resident Alien series finale, Sheridan unpacked Mike and Liv's future investigating aliens. The creator explained how it seemed like an apparent spinoff setup given how much could be explored . However, he hasn't thought about the franchise's future much beyond that, since the story the cast and crew set out to tell is over:
