SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Jenkins High School in Savannah went under a brief lockdown on August 7, 2025, due to a student bringing a weapon on campus.
According to information emailed to parents and guardians of Jenkins High School students, “the weapon was locked in the student’s car and was related to his job.”
“At no point was there any threat to students or staff,” the statement reads. “The lockdown was simply a precaution we took after being alerted to the weapon on campus.”
Campus police interviewed the student and confiscated the weapon.
“The student will face consequences as outlined in our Student Code of Conduct,” the school says.
