Galleria store owner charged in fight with employee

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A Galleria store owner is charged in a fight with an employee from another store.

Motasem Kawdees is charged with third-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Court documents state Kawdees, who owns Mangosteen at the Galleria, assaulted an employee from EDK. The EDK employee reportedly went to Mangosteen to retrieve packages that were delivered there by mistake. When Kawdees saw the employee getting the packages, instead of the EDK store owner he reportedly got upset.

Prosecutors said Kawdees attempted to hit the EDK employee, who then fought back in self-defense. During the fight, Kawdees picked up a metal rod and attempted to hit the EDK employee multiple times. In response, the EDK employee picked up another metal rod and hit Kawdees.
