HEDGESVILLE - Washington swept the Spring Mills Invitational golf tournament on Monday at The Woods Resort, not only capturing the team title but also having one of hits golfers, Tommy Evans, as the low medalist.
The Patriots won in dominating fashion, finishing with a final score of 226, well ahead of second-place Hampshire (244). The rest of the field included Martinsburg (255) in third, Jefferson (258) fourth, Hedgesville (263) fifth, Berkeley Springs (267) sixth, Musselman (281) seventh and host Spring Mills (330).
Like his team, Evans was dominant in his first-place effort, as he shot an impressive 5-under 67, 10 shots ahead of the next golfer. He shot 2-under on the front nine, including three birdies and a bogey, and 3-under on the back nine, with four birdies and a bogey.
