CHEBOYGAN – PJ Maybank III doesn’t get home a ton these days.

Being a member of the Oklahoma men’s golf team , the Cheboygan native is all over the country competing in some of the biggest college tournaments out there.

But when he’s back in Cheboygan for a few weeks during his summers, he makes sure to play golf, spend time with his family and friends, and create as many memories as possible.

On Sunday evening, Maybank not only created a thrilling hometown golf memory for himself, but he also made some history along the way.

Fueled by an excellent final round, Maybank separated himself from the field and won his first Northern Michigan Open title during the 78 th version of the event at the Cheboygan Golf & Country Club.
