San Gabriel Mountains and 5 Freeway corridor near Santa Clarita was placed under an updated heat advisory by the National Weather Service on Monday at 7:36 p.m. The advisory is in effect until Tuesday Aug. 12, at 9 p.m.

The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA adds to anticipate, “Daytime high temperatures in the 80s and 90s at high elevation to the mid 90s to near 105 degrees in the foothills and high valleys. Overnight low temperatures will be in the 70s to low 80s.”

“There is a high risk for heat illness for sensitive populations including the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors,” the NWS said.
