TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - As school starts up in Leon County , some students are facing long journeys along busy roads to get to their new bus stop. It’s an issue concerning many parents.
Roberta Meikle said her son has to walk about 1.8 miles to get to his bus. The SAIL High School student has to walk down Tennessee Street, cross Capital Circle and then trek down Highway 90, according to Meikle.
“He’s going to have to brave that traffic on his own, and of course, crossing Capital Circle for any kid is not going to be safe,” she said.
The mom said she worries for her son because drivers in that area can be reckless.
“The traffic on Tennessee Street coming into Tallahassee is crazy fast, and people are always speeding,” she said. “It’s a hazard for kids, so that was my big concern.”
