Over the weekend, hundreds of protesters marched across the Brooklyn Bridge, calling on Gov. Kathy Hochul to reject a proposed expansion of natural gas pipelines in the state.
Back in May, Hochul appeared to be open to new pipeline projects after a meeting with President Donald Trump, despite the state’s efforts to move away from fossil fuels.
Following the Hochul-Trump talks, an Oklahoma-based energy company called Williams filed a petition to revive the Northeast Supply Enhancement project, which would run beneath New York’s harbor to New Jersey.
It is also in talks to construct the Constitution pipeline, connecting upstate New York to Pennsylvania.
