The Stettler community hosted a candidate forum for the upcoming Aug. 18 byelection in the Battle River–Crowfoot riding.

Ten of the 214 confirmed candidates on the ballot were in attendance. The most notable absence was Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre, who is also running in the byelection, but had prior commitments elsewhere.

Attending the forum for the major parties were Grant Abraham, United Party; Jonathan Bridges, People's Party; Michael Harris, Libertarian Party; Kenneth Kirk, Marijuana Party; Ashley MacDonald, Green Party; Darcy Spady, Liberal Party; Katherine Swampy, NDP; and Jeff Willerton, Christian Heritage Party. Additionally, independent candidates Bonnie Critchley and Sarah Spanier also took part.
