BRISTOL, Conn. (WFSB) - During these hottest stretches of summer, EMT’s and paramedics in certain towns say they are busier than ever.

In Bristol, they are in the midst of a spike of emergency responses for heat related illness.

While some towns in Connecticut like Litchfield and Ansonia have had few to no calls for heat related illnesses throughout this summer, in Bristol it’s quite the opposite.

“There’s been days where we’ve been up to almost 60 calls a day,” Chris Brown, Director, Bristol Health EMS.

Traditionally in the summer, Bristol Health EMS responds to more respiratory calls due to lower air quality or people overexerting themselves.
