ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- In the wake of recent youth arrests throughout Albany County, one program is working to help juveniles turn things around after they commit a crime. The program, called the Juvenile Community Accountability Board (JCAB) has been around for nearly 20 years.

"It's really individualized to the youth, which is what I think really makes the program work," said Lisa Mahar, JCAB probation supervisor.

Lisa Mahar started the Juvenile Community Accountability Board (JCAB) in 2006 after becoming inspired by similar models other states have used to combat youth crime. Mahar said her goal has always been to help juveniles understand the impact the crimes they commit could have on the community around them.
