Low levels of Legionella bacteria were found during a routine water test at the Berks County South Campus in Mohnton, officials learned on Monday, Aug. 11, 2025.
According to county officials, remediation efforts will begin Tuesday, Aug. 12, including water flushing and more tests at the facility at 400 East Wyomissing Avenue in Mohnton.

Employees at the county facility will not have to vacate the building, but temporary bathroom facilities and potable drinking water will be provided until the site is cleared of the bacteria, officials said.
Legionella bacteria can cause Legionnaires' disease, which is a serious type of pneumonia, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
