GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) -- A Garden City Police K9 is retiring.

The department announced that after four years of service, K9 Koda officially retired on Monday.

Koda was acquired by the Garden City Police Department in 2021. He served the community as a dual-purpose dog trained for patrol deployments and narcotics detection.

Koda was partnered with Officer Cody Wilson. The department says they are preparing a new K9 team and will make an announcement in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, congratulations to K9 Koda on a well-deserved retirement, and he is saluted for his loyal service and protecting his Officers and helping keep the community safe!"
