A Delaware County woman has been arrested in Maine after her young daughter was found dead in her car.

Kelly Brown, 40, of Havertown was arrested on Aug. 10 and charged with manslaughter, according to a report from the Maine State Police.

Police said that on the night of Aug 9, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to call from a business in Milford and found a three-year-old girl dead inside of a vehicle.

The car belonged to Brown, who was also the child’s mother. She was found nearby and detained, police said.

Family members had contacted the authorities earlier in an attempt to locate and check on the well-being of Brown and her child. The girl’s name has not been released to the public.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta will perform an autopsy to determine
