The son of a woman killed by police earlier this year has sued the city and three Fort Wayne officers over the wrongful death of his mother, according to court documents.

Patricia Hepworth of Fort Wayne died Jan. 8 of multiple gunshot wounds, and the coroner determined the manner of death was homicide – police action. Officers were investigating a parole violation when she was fatally shot, police have said.

Dana Hepworth-Wilson is seeking damages for violations of constitutional laws, along with attorney fees and legal costs and all other just and proper relief, the lawsuit says.

Hepworth was killed after she reportedly barricaded herself in an apartment at Parkview Studios at 3501 Harris Road. Police have said she was armed with a knife.
