Pinal County Assessor Doug Wolf reminded residents that the deadline to apply for the county’s “Senior Freeze” tax savings is Sept. 1.

The state program, formally called Senior Property Valuation Protection Option, freezes property value of qualifying homes for three years, effectively lowering tax bills owed to the county.

Speaking during the public comment portion of the Board of Supervisors Aug. 6 meeting, Wolf encouraged eligible seniors to apply for the program.

“This exemption basically freezes your property values for three years and it’s renewable,” the assessor said. “We want everybody to apply who is deserving and in the county.”
