A family feud during happy hour at a Maricopa bar ended with a brother and sister in handcuffs Thursday afternoon.

Maricopa police responded to Native Grill & Wings around 3:30 p.m. after reports of a fight involving two women and a man, according to a probable cause statement obtained by InMaricopa.

Officers learned that Ofelia Shafer, 66, had gone to the bar with her niece for drinks. The niece told police that after drinking too much, Shafer began arguing with her and picked up a Bud Light bottle, “cocked her arm back” and threatened to hit her over the head with it.

The niece said she then left the bar and called her stepfather, 72-year-old Alfredo Trevino — who is also Shafer’s brother — to pick her up because of her aunt’s aggression.
