A Buckeye man with an active West Valley arrest warrant ended up in Maricopa police custody this week after allegedly giving officers a fake name during a jaywalking stop — a small misstep that finally caught up with a long history of missed court dates.

Maricopa cops first encountered 47-year-old Patrick Lee Keenan just after 7 a.m. Wednesday near Plainview Street and Honeycutt Road. Police say he stepped into a crosswalk against a flashing “don’t walk” signal. When officers asked for his name and date of birth, Keenan refused, even after being reminded he was legally required to identify himself.
