EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Drought-like conditions are starting to return to parts of our area, as we've only seen about a half-inch of rain so far this month.
As of Aug. 7, the U.S. Drought Monitor has southern Rhode Island and part of Bristol County, Massachusetts, categorized as "abnormally dry," while there's a moderate drought down toward Cape Cod and Nantucket.
As a result, odd/even water restrictions are currently in effect in South Kingstown and Narragansett.
In the video above, Meteorologist Catie McNeil takes a closer look at the conditions and how residents can reduce their outdoor water usage.
