HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — In the ongoing fights over Connecticut’s high cost of energy, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) is training his fire on a little-known federal agency he says needs to do more for ratepayers.
Among the alphabet soup of federal government entities, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) isn’t exactly a household name like NASA or the CIA. But Blumenthal says FERC is effectively asleep at the wheel when it comes to controlling the costs of projects that affect every family’s budget.
"The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is failing — utterly and totally failing — at cost containment for consumers,” Blumenthal said at a Monday press conference.
