SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Teachers in Mead gathered for a rally ahead of upcoming contract negotiations. They are advocating for a cost of living increase and additional funding to enhance school safety, including hiring more staff certified in special education.
Kindergarten teacher Jessie Stevens expressed the teachers’ dedication and their desire for fair treatment.
“We love kids, we love what we do, it’s fair right and good to keep that and we don’t want to lose that. We want them to see our faces and hear our voices so they know who they’re affecting when they’re negotiating today,” she said.
The rally lasted approximately 30 minutes.
